Public Access to Powell County Court Records
Kentucky's public-access framework has two pieces. Court case files are requested through the court clerk that heard the case. KRS 61.870 defines public records and related terms, while KRS Chapter 61 includes the inspection right and exemptions.
For court filings, Kentucky CR 7.03 requires filers to redact personal identifiers such as Social Security numbers, taxpayer IDs, birth dates, financial account numbers, and minor names. The public may see a case event without seeing every filed document or every identifier in that document.
